Busyness Is Off-Putting
“Isn’t it true that we often get so busy? And, sad to say, we even wear our busyness as a badge of honor, as though being busy, by itself, was an accomplishment or sign of a superior life.” –Dieter F. Uchtdorf
I have been thinking about busyness lately and the above quote came to mind. Some of the most successful people I respect do not give off an air of being overly busy, yet they are. They just handle it differently. Here are some thoughts:
- Work in the off-hours to knock out things so that you are freed up to be with people during the day
- Work smart and be organized
- Delegate
- Learn to say “No” to many things; guard your schedule well
- Realize that the air of “busyness” is off-putting
- Streamline communications (like Mark Cuban who said, “What time is the best time to talk to me? Email is the best time to talk to me!); I like to use ScheduleOnce
Much of the joy in startups is in the journey. I like to pause from time-to-time to evaluate the intensity of my “busyness” and course correct when needed.
What are your thoughts on busyness?
