Reader Feedback on Two Recent Posts
One of my favorite rewards from this blog is interacting with readers who share thoughts and insights. Sometimes that happens in the comments below the article. Often it happens on twitter. Many times it happens when readers simply email me.
Two of my recent posts prompted insightful reader feedback in my email. I’m going to share both of those for the broader benefit of everyone here.
Feedback on Finding Addresses for Hand-written Letters
The kind friend that sent me the hand-written letter had this to say about finding addresses:
I find addresses in a myriad of creative ways. I once had a prospect who mentioned they had recently bought a house in a specific area, so I had a realtor check into it and there had only been 1 sale on that street. It was stalkerish, but I’m sure deep down he appreciated it.
I also will call corporate offices where I know people work and ask the receptionist the best way to get mail to them. This works surprisingly well. You can also google property records.
Using these in combination can get you most peoples info.
Feedback on Reading Body Language
Another reader sent the following insights to me about reading body language:
I know people will open up and talk to you better (if it’s a difficult conversation) if you’re not making eye contact with them. They don’t like being stared at–feels like interrogation. It’s helpful, for instance, to be riding in the car, or taking a walk, or something where you’re naturally not looking at them.
I also know some people look “closed” when they’re really just cold, especially women. Don’t get confused.
I also know hugs that are stiffly offered are worse than no hug–they say, “I don’t really want to be hugging you”. If you’re going to hug someone, hug them like you mean it, whether it’s a full hug or a one armed hug.

Fantastic feedback, right?! I love sharing thoughts and refining my own understanding by hearing from you! It really makes this something I look forward to every day.
