Today was the first day of the EO Global Leadership Conference in Athens Greece. I will be serving on the board of the Atlanta EO chapter this year and am here to learn my duties, to meet other entrepreneurs, and to soak up general leadership and entrepreneurship goodness.
The keynote was excellent. The presenter shared how she has traveled the world the last year with her whole family. She shared how it has been an incredible learning experience for her middle school aged kids. She also shared a lot of great quotes that inspire her:
- “When something goes wrong in your life, just yell “Plot Twist!” and move on.” -Unknown
- “You are only destined to become the person you decide to be.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson
- “One cannot be prepared for something while secretly believing it will not happen.” -Nelson Mandela
- “Miracles start to happen when you give as much energy to your dreams as you do to your fears.” -Unknown
The breakout sessions today were great too and helped me understand how to maximize the EO forum experience for other EO members. EO is an incredible resource for founders, and I encourage all founders that qualify to apply.
Acceptance into EO is getting tougher, and it is no longer good enough to merely qualify. You have to stand out too to be allowed in. In New Delhi, EO is so exclusive that new members must pay $30k to join, and they have a waiting list of over 100 people. South Florida’s chapter is also very selective. Atlanta is becoming selective too.
Hanging with EO entrepreneurs is always energizing, and I’m going to come back to Atlanta pumped up!
