I’m celebrating with a new blog to share short daily posts about startups.

To kick things off, I’ll share some of the earliest business advice I ever received.  It was from my Grandfather who lived through the Great Depression.  He was fond of saying, “Don’t take any wooden nickels!”  That saying is a light-hearted way of encouraging someone to be careful and wise in business. The saying arose from a time when wooden nickels were issued by the US Government during the Great Depression.

My goal is for this blog to be a place to share and engage with you about startups. Hopefully, in the process we’ll help each other avoid wooden nickels and find better success.

What are some of the earliest pieces of business advice that you remember? What adages do you live by?
