Following up on yesterday’s post about the importance of video games to math, science, and computational advancements, today I share an interesting innovation by Microsoft that improves the video gaming experience.

Some of the best innovations cause one to wonder, “Where was this before.” Even though the technologies to deliver these innovations have been around a long time, these type of innovations took some time before someone had both the bright idea as well as the capacity to make it happen.

This is the case with the upcoming Microsoft IllumiRoom capability. The technology extends the effective size of any TV screen to include the entire room. Sure, there are limitations, but it is amazing how much more immersive the entertainment can become with a simple projector and game feedback.

Watch the video to understand more and to have a fun friday!

Which innovations have you questioned after-the-fact about why they took so long to develop?
