Inviting Spam with Open Arms

I have no fear of sharing my cell phone number and email address broadly and widely. I’ve been doing it for years.

It invites spam; lot’s of spam. So what? Gmail filters it all for me, like magic. And I don’t answer calls from people I don’t know. It’s a solved problem.

When I comment on various web properties in our market, anyone can easily find my email address. I put it in my forum post signature wherever I post. I put it on my public LinkedIn page. I don’t hide it. I don’t do the silly “<at>” syntax. I don’t hide behind generic “sales@accelereyes.com” or “support@accelereyes.com” addresses. I put my personal address. I hyperlink it for easier clicking.

I think those that read my various posts appreciate the gesture. It’s wonderful to be open and vulnerable to receiving messages. I encourage all AccelerEyes people to do the same.

When people reach out to me, I love meeting with them personally as much as I can. Even better, I plug them into other AccelerEyes people that are better suited to give them top-rate attention.

Last week, someone reached out to me personally because I put my email address on a post 3 years ago. That person will be a paying customer shortly. The same thing has happened before.

Are you open with your contact information? Or do you still hide your info?
