Partner Conferences and APU 2013
The past 3 days we’ve been attending the AMD Developer Conference (APU 2013) at the San Jose Convention Center. AMD has a world class CPU and a world class GPU. They are in a unique position to combine those 2 strengths in a new chip which contains both. They call that new chip the accelerated processing unit (APU).
AccelerEyes is fully focused on software for accelerated processors. Accelerated systems have access to more computational cores than are available on traditional CPUs. Accelerated systems are “heterogeneous” because they include more than one type of computing device. I’ve written before about heterogeneous computing.
We work closely with AMD on the software side of accelerated computing. We are the primary partner involved in working with AMD to create an important open source library for our market, clMath.
Partner conferences are great opportunities to strengthen relationships. More importantly, partner conferences are great for building mutual business opportunities together. There is nothing better than finding joint customer work to drive a partnership deeper.
Next week is Dreamforce and I know many from the Atlanta startup community will be seeking similar opportunities there with Salesforce and other partners. Good luck!
The next major partner conference we will attend will be GTC 2014 in March at the same San Jose Convention Center. NVIDIA always puts on a great show, and we look forward to that. Tomorrow I travel straight from here to the largest technical computing industry tradeshow, Supercomputing 2013. I’ll be blogging from Denver tomorrow night.
