Hard Things to Delegate
Yesterday I wrote about delegation. I’ve been thinking about startup integrators and the importance of enabling others to make more decisions. Some things are harder to delegate than others. Here’s a list of things that I think are hard to delegate:
- Hiring negotiations
- Firing decisions
- Large expense decisions
- The marketing voice of the business
- Closing of large important customers
- Key product management decisions
Delegation requires trust. For entrepreneurs, it is an interesting metamorphosis from having to do everything to having to figure out how to not do everything. You have to fight off the worries that others will not do things how you would do them. With trust comes scale and ability to grow.
What things are hard for you to delegate in your startup?
