Staying Calm

I’ve written before about maintaining an even keel in startup life. Recently, I ran across a great article in Forbes that shares tips from leaders who successfully remain calm under pressure.

The article included this graph that depicts how leaders optimally operate:

The tips from the article include:  They Appreciate What They Have, They Avoid Asking “What If?”, They Stay Positive, They Disconnect, They Limit Their Caffeine Intake, They Sleep, They Squash Negative Self-Talk, They Reframe Their Perspective, They Breathe, and They Use Their Support System.

These tips resonated with me. One of our core cultural attributes is to Be Upbeat. I am also a fan of limiting caffeine intake, avoiding hypothetical and meaningless “What If?” statements, and looking to be a positive person. I am very grateful for my support system as well. All of these elements help startup founders and leaders remain calm through the storms that come.

What are your thoughts on ways to remain calm in the nerve wrecking journey of startup creation?
