Sales Guys Can Build Websites

This week we will be unveiling a brand new website to accompany our rebranding to ArrayFire. I’m super excited for the new site.

One thing that stands out to me about this effort is that the majority of the work was accomplished by our sales guys. Not by our engineers.

Website platforms are so good today that there is little need to hire developers to do website stuff. Here are the things we used to accomplish our site:

We did have the help of one part-time software developer to complete a few backend customizations as well as the porting of our old site’s customer accounts (based on Magento) to the new site. But it is amazing how much we were able to do without programming anything.

For this reason, many startups can go a long way without the need for excessive development by programmers. Sales guys can do a lot if they are willing to roll up their sleeves and actually get some website work done.

What are your thoughts on the ability of sales guys to build websites?
