Mary Meeker’s 2014 industry trends report came out today. She always does a phenomenal job at succinctly capturing macro industry trends. A couple that caught my eye:
- The internet is becoming unbundled. It has gone from multi-purpose web apps, to multi-purpose mobile apps, to now single-purpose “there’s an app for that” apps. (slide 40). [This is great for startups!]
- She defines the internet trifecta as critical mass of content + community + commerce. (slide 55). [We are working on creating that for our market with ArrayFire.]
- Screens are proliferating!!! (slide 93). [We are taking a bet on that trend with a new startup we are launching… I’ll write about that later this summer.]
- China is rising soooo fast (slide 128).
Mary’s slides are dense and require a slow study to absorb the data. What are your favorite highlights?
