Atlanta Startup Village #6
Another great Atlanta Startup Village tonight at the Atlanta Tech Village. Hundreds of people. Many familiar faces, but amazing number of new faces too.
Here are my notes from tonight’s event:
- Helps businesses find agencies fast
- Founder’s background from coca-cola and american express
- Time wasted on the searching for the right agency, and they reduce that effort
- You are greater than the sum of your social graph
- Detect taste groups and connect users to groups
- Help ecommerce companies make hyper relevant recommendations
- Like hunch.com with a better business model
- Focus on simple integration into html
- Aside: visit Michael Mealling’s blog, Rocketforge, to see more daily startup posts
- Yelp for events
- Grabs all relevant Facebook events from your friends
- Three take home messages:
- Everything that is happening around you is available
- Just quit job to work on this
- You can travel with this
- Farmers try to use pesticide sparingly
- Sticky traps are time consuming
- They have a z-trap that has a sensor, which auto-pipes bug data to cloud-based servers
- They can tell good bugs from bad bugs
- Farmers can see alerts from the technology solution
- Currently raising money
- 50 units built and sold in 65 days
- Now selling subscriptions to software too
- 140 software subscribers so fat
- I think these guys would be great on Shark Tank; I’ll write about that tomorrow
- Just raised $500k
- The formula for decisions
- Tourbook app and rating system to help capture the information from a real estate tour
- Free for all brokers and downloaded free by clients
- Take pictures, notes, and ratings for your tour
- Scores associated with every building
