Thoughts on Entrepreneur Dads

I have 4 kids. I’m so grateful they are mine and I am theirs.

There are many benefits to being an entrepreneur dad. Here are some thoughts:

  • Flexible schedule – while an entrepreneur may work more hours than most, those hours are typically flexible. This spring I was able to catch nearly every little league game.
  • Providing real experiences – I love bringing my son to work. He helps out and learns hard work. He washes our desks, organizes our ethernet cables, and hauls out empty cardboard boxes to the dumpster. He also gets to go out to lunch with us.
  • Family vacations – entrepreneurs can decide to take vacation when it is best for the business and best for the family. (note: home-schooling coupled with entrepreneurship provides the biggest flexibility on vacations). Our family has really enjoyed spur-of-the-moment vacations when business interests and family interests have aligned.
  • Weathering storms together – I recently wrote about this.

Most people have a several hesitations when considering jumping into fatherhood. I don’t know anyone that regrets the leap.

Happy Father’s Day!
