On Losing Weight
I’m going to wrap up the year of posts sharing some thoughts on four everyday systems that have worked well for me this year. Today I share my thoughts on losing weight.
Since July 1st, I’ve lost 30 lbs. I did this without any fad diet. I did this without pushing myself through a lot of pain. In fact, quite the opposite, I did it in a way that I really enjoy.
My main inspiration was Matt Might’s post on Least Resistance Weight Loss. Stop now and go read that. It’s awesome. The main point is that “there is only one rule for weight loss: on average, consume less calories than you burn.”
So that’s what I’ve done. I’ve focused on finding natural foods that are tasty (lot’s of fruits and vegetables) and lower calorie than the options that I had been eating. Disco Kroger came to the rescue and is a wonderful eating option for those in the Village.
I also exercise regularly and without a lot of overhead to become fit. I’ll write about systems for becoming strong tomorrow.
I gained all that weight in the early years of our startup. Too much pizza. Too little movement. The startup pounds took their toll. My advice is to focus on staying healthy in all stages of startup life. Don’t take my word for it; Paul Graham says so too 🙂
