Timing Marketing Communications

Tonight Urvaksh yelled at me again for the time of day at which I post on this blog. His point is that no one wants to read what I post when I post late. And when they see it in the morning they do not have time to read it during their morning rush. He thinks I’ll get more traffic if I post earlier in the evening.

His comments made be remembers two interesting articles I came across previously that discuss the timing of marketing communications.

  1. Timing a Reddit Post for virality – Reddit has been a great driver of traffic for our business and this post from a data scientist contains great information on properly timing posts for reddit.
  2. Timing a customer newsletter – This post has great data about the best days to send an email blast newsletter to customers. We have found that Tuesdays are great days to send newsletters. Mondays people are busy. Fridays they leave the office early. Early mid-week seems to be when people are most likely to be on top of their email.

What are your thoughts about the best days and times to go live with newsletters and blog posts?
