Hide of an Amardillo

in Leadership

I recently ran across an article that said every leader needs the hide of an armadillo. I think that’s true.

Many would-be entrepreneurs do not have thick skin. The thought of facing the bullets of leadership can deter people with great ideas and great competence from entering the entrepreneurial world.

Over the years I’ve learned that even the toughest moments will pass. As long as we are working hard and smart, doing substantive things, and being persistent, I’m always confident that thinks will eventually break our way.

Bootstrapping companies need thick skin to get through moments of very little cash. Venture funded companies need thick skin to deal with the boards of directors and moments when performance is suboptimal.

What are your thoughts on having a thick skin as an entrepreneur?
