We are working on customer discovery for two new startup ideas. We’ve generated a list of potential prospects, including emails and phone numbers for many of those. We have a script for making phone calls.
Now we are working on a process for reaching out systematically to the entire (and growing) list. One of our team members sent me the following process we are currently using:
I started emailing everyone on the list, and if the emails bounce back those are the ones I’ll call first. Then if I don’t get a response I will call those as well. I’ve got a list going where I take notes of who responded, and how I contacted them so we don’t send doubles.
That seems like a great process to me. Goals of the process are to: 1) get a meeting with the prospect, 2) without burning too much time or burning out, and 3) while remaining personalized and not spammy.
I’m curious to hear what process you use to do customer discovery.
How do you reach out to your list of prospects? What are your goals when performing customer discovery?
