Someone recently said to me, “You can’t be too nice; you own a company.”
I think the general population might stereotype businessmen, assuming them to be mean, controlling, materialistic & have skewed priorities. It’s a Hollywood generated perception, e.g. The Wolf on Wall Street.
I don’t agree with that.
I can get mean to protect my interests or people I care about. But it’s a myth that business owners need to be cold and ugly.
Their are some that rule by fear. That’s not me. And frankly I do not believe they make as much headway as those that are nice, competent, and leaders by gravitation over force. The people I look up to in the Atlanta entrepreneurial world are all gravitational leaders.
What are your thoughts on being nice versus being mean as a business owner?
