One of the greatest things startups can do is be genuine. BigCos often struggle with saying genuine things. There are too many layers of approval required to say anything interesting.
Startups can say interesting things. They can be gracious towards and honest of their competition. They can be honest about nonsense in the market. They can feed journalists real information.
Not all startups do this. Many believe they should act with a cloak of ambiguity and legalese like a BigCo. I think startups should be genuine and that their market and customers will appreciate the honesty.
What are your thoughts on being genuine?
